Caustic calcined magnesite (Magnesium ball )is made of ordinary light - burning magnesium powder after mixing. It is mainly used for BOF steelmaking and slag splashing to protect the BOF. The production of magnesium ball is mixed by 80% MgO powder with 20% water, then put it into a mixing mill for rolling, stirring and mixing 15 ~ 20 min to form a mixture, send people to press the ball mechanism through the belt conveyor to prepare products, and then pile up. After 48h dry and forming strength, magnesium ball is ready for sale.

 

Application:

Caustic calcined magnesite (Magnesium ball ) is used as slag control agent for slag splashing in converter. Reasonable slag composition is the key to implement slag splashing protection, because slag splashing requires proper viscosity and fire resistance. General slag can not be directly splashed furnace protection, need to add a certain amount of magnesium oxide ball to adjust, and replace the use of dolomite, reduce the amount of slag, improve the content of MgO in slag. As MgO is a high melting point mineral, the melting point of 2800℃, the increase of MgO content in slag makes the slag viscosity become larger, the fireproof degree improves, the slag is easier to be combined with the lining, forming an effective slag protective layer on the lining, thus improving the lining life and reducing consumption.

 

What are the benefits of using light burnt magnesia balls?

Caustic calcined magnesite (Magnesium ball ) is an alkaline refractory product. The function of CaO: it can replace the CaO in the lime, ensure the alkalinity of the final steelmaking slag, and reduce the amount of lime added. CaO can react with SiO₂ in the slag. CaO+SiO₂=3CaO. SiO₂, Ca₂SiO₄, C₃S and C₂S are all high melting point substances. If the content of CaO in the slag is sufficient, the main component of light burned magnesia ball can be MgO. Although by adjusting the operation of MgO in the slag, the purpose of reducing the superheat of the slag and thickening the slag can be achieved, but the CO reaction C(FeO)=Fe+CO is used to reduce the FeO content in the slag and the saturated solubility of MgO to make the slag The MgO in it is easier to reach or exceed the saturation value. Therefore, the modified slag has both higher refractoriness and suitable viscosity, and meets the conditions of slag splashing to protect the furnace, so it can also be appropriately carbonized in the light burned magnesia ball.
